Pathophysiology of the link between obesity and breast cancer

One hypothesis is that the biological cause of the association between obesity and post-menopausal breast cancer is the elevated circulating estrogens from peripheral aromatization of androgens in adipose tissue in obese postmenopausal women compared with slim postmenopausal women.
