Break Dancing at the Morpheum

The first ot the Ten Commandments for the New Real Estate Economy is to create and maintain agile brokerage operating models that compliment and enable constant business morphing.
Does your real estate company morph; can it break dance to the contemporary rythms of a rapidly evolving and highly competitive climate dominated by a host of Non-Brokers, each armed with the latest fast-track model for market penetration and consumer loyalty?
Thou shalt be very, very agile; then more agile is the REALonomics commandment for thriving organizations. Nimble operations is the result of a deliberate cultural business priority. Culture makes business, I believe, not just raw data models and stainless steal operating paradigms. Agility is part of the character of a real estate business model…maybe, dare I say, a part of its very soul.
Real estate operating models in the New Real Estate Economy must move with quick graceful precision. Business models are enhanced when they nimble to economic and market factors that can change quickly. Bulk is out, buildings are bulk and manual environments are bulk. Business models are enhanced when they are nimble to the quickly changing economic and market factors in which they hunt ROI and model perfect.
Bulk is out…not nimble enough. Buildings are bulk…buildings are being factored out of the E=MC2 power model equation. Heated and cooled environments with layers of manually operated transaction management platforms that are top heavy, with yes, people, are out…just flat unnecessary to a large degree. Old line retail model schemes are bulky and like large girth people they cannot bust-a-move.
Agility is a part of the new model math. What is the nuts-and-bolts cultural operating character of an agile, nimble and liquid real estate organization look like, anyway?
- It’s a clearly decentralizing or decentralized business personality;
- It’s hot enough to stay liquid so that it can be poured into today’s ROI mold;
- It’s playing and adapting to a paperless transaction mentality;
- It’s replacing a large part of its retail advertising model with Internet models;
- It’s learning principles that help it manage market chaos in a near weightless environment;
- It’s management, accounting, marketing and operating system psyche never boils because movement keeps its soul cool, pliable and adaptive;
Break dancing at the morpheum will be a tough night on the town for many traditional real estate organizations. But to those who can inculcate change as a part of the ongoing business model personality there will be many kudos and rewards from the consumer-centric buyers and sellers, who are themselves, break dancing at the morpheum.
